But the curves seem uniform whichever way you place it, and yes they are the right way up. The bed itself was a nightmare to assemble, thanks to YouTube I found helpful videos which made sense of Ikea's nonsensical instructions. Don't squeeze too hard, or else the dowel will lose its grip.
